This Blog Entry discusses commands that can be executed on a CISCO router to gather configuration and running status. In addition, logging should be turned up to capture all the log records via syslog.

It would be great if when a router sends a syslog message that the configuration has been updated, Splunk would then execute a script to grab the latest device configuration.
